AwwaRF Workshop - "UV in Drinking Water Treatment"

March 20-23, 2002 :: The Netherlands

UV has been used for several decades in the water industry. Its efficiency against viruses and bacteria has been well documented. Thus far, UV has been applied primarily as a polishing disinfection step to inactivate heterotrophic plate counts or coliforms.

To make intelligent decisions as to appropriateness of UV for a given application, the water supply community needs a basic understanding of the science involved in UV generation, the reactor design, the microbiology, UV sensor technology, dose-modeling and other issues to enable proper system design and operation and process optimization.

A CD-ROM containing the presentations, abstracts and descriptions of the research needs identified at the workshop is available to AwwaRF subscribers. Order the CD-ROM
