The goal of this project was to improve the drinking water community’s understanding of atrazine and atrazine metabolite occurrence and control. Specifically, the data from this project was used to (1) evaluate the suitability of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) test methods for compliance or routine monitoring by water utilities, (2) assess atrazine occurrence in drinking water sources in the United States, (3) assess the effectiveness of various activated carbon treatment methods to remove atrazine and its degradate compounds from drinking waters supplies, and (4) develop recommendations on sampling program designs to support alternative frameworks for drinking water atrazine and metabolite trigger levels.
The PDF report summarizes the findings of the study. Eight peer reviewed articles based on this study have been published. The complete list of these publications can be found in the last page of this summary.
