RFP Announced for Crypto Genotyping Project
A request for proposals (RFP) has been announced for project #4179, “Selecting and Standardizing the Most Appropriate Tool for Regulatory Cryptosporidium Genotyping.” The primary goal of the study is to identify 18S rRNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primers capable of amplifying all known Cryptosporidium genotypes, and primers for at least one other confirmatory locus capable of amplifying at least those species and genotypes of human health significance. See the RFP for a complete description of the project. Those interested in submitting a proposal should refer to the solicited proposal guidelines. Proposals are due by January 16, 2009.

AwwaRF Research Presented at Water Quality Technology Conference
The latest findings from AwwaRF research will be featured in more than 40 presentations at AWWA's Water Quality and Technology Conference, November 16–20, 2008, in Cincinnati, Ohio. A broad range of topics will be covered, including a toolbox for managing coliforms, occurrence and treatment of endocrine disruptors and pharmaceuticals, impacts of climate change on water supplies, and contribution of different sources of lead to lead levels at the tap, among others. AwwaRF is Changing Its Name!
The Awwa Research Foundation (AwwaRF) will be changing its name to Water Research Foundation beginning in 2009. The Board of Trustees approved the name change (PDF) in June. One objective for the change is to enhance the ability to procure the funding necessary to better serve subscribers and the water community, among others. Click here (PDF) for more information, and watch for updates about the 2009 introduction of the Water Research Foundation name.

Webcast Archived: Strategies for Workforce Management and Knowledge Retention at Water Utilities
AwwaRF's September 10th Webcast discussing how utilities can develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to retain valuable knowledge and transfer that knowledge to new workers joining the utility is now archived online for viewing by AwwaRF subscribers. (User name and password required.)
